Why Champagne?
Nothing speaks of romance like champagne. The effervescence and sparkle of champagne appeals to many senses and has made it a beverage of celebration. It is the perfect addition to a special night of hotel passion, one that will be frivolous, fun and indulgent. What makes champagne such a great accompaniment to love?
Alcohol as aphrodisiac. Any alcoholic beverage will loosen inhibitions. This is partially because it raises testosterone in women, freeing the libido. But too much and the sedative effects of this elixir will mean no one can truly take advantage of these effects. As Shakespeare said, “It provokes and it unprovokes; it provokes the desire, but it takes away the performance.” To achieve the perfect balance no more than two glasses should be imbibed by each of you. This should be enough to prime the motor and give the fun a helping hand.
Sexy presentation is all. The champagne bottle chimes in the silver bucket as it is set down by room service. Lifted out of its ice and water bath with a swish, drops of moisture travel slowly down its cool surface. Glasses sparkle in the candlelight, expectant. Deft opening of the bottle is key:
- Tease off its foil outerwear.
- Loosen, but don’t take off, the wire cage of its undergarments.
- Firmly grasp the cork and the cage, then rotate the bottle (rather than the cork) by holding it at the base.
- Slowly ease the cork out with a satisfying “pop” (making the cork shoot across the room, producing a fountain of foamy wine may be dramatic, but a bottle that explodes before it is drunk may not be the best omen for a night of love – and think of the waste).
- As that first bit of mist rises from the bottle, pour the golden liquid into the waiting glasses (champagne flutes are good, but big red wine glasses are actually best for opening up and capturing the delicious aroma). Don’t overfill.
Savour the first moment. See the bubbles rise, how the champagne captures the light. Raise the glass, look at your lover as you breathe in the fragrance of the wine and then finally, finally take that first deep sip. Feel the tingle wash across your tongue, making your mouth keenly alive. Kiss your partner deeply and share the experience.
Champagne as sex toy. The bottle is open. How can you include champagne in your sex play tonight? Oh, let me count the ways…
- Share open mouthed champagne kisses that tingle and excite.
- Combine it with other food like chocolate or strawberries for sensual taste treats.
- Drizzle on the warm skin of your beloved; watch the cool, fizzing liquid tickle and tantalize belly buttons, nipples and other sensitive parts. Lead the way for a firm or delicate follow through with your warm tongue.
- Fill your mouth with champagne, hold it in carefully and then go down on your partner. Use your tongue to swirl the bubbles over the most vulnerable parts of their anatomy. Nerve endings react to the bubbles, heightening sensation and increasing pleasure.
- If you have access to a freezer, and enough time, you can make champagne ice cubes to cool fevered, aroused skin and cause gasps of delight.
- Enjoy it the morning after with orange juice as part of an indulgent (and well deserved) breakfast in bed.
- And so on, and so on, and so on…
Treat yourselves to the best. Technically, any sparkling wine will do the trick, but there does seem to be something extra special about the real thing. Champagne from Champagne, France lends a certain air to your night of hotel sex. One that makes you both feel pampered and special. Also, the cheap stuff can give you a headache, which kind of defeats the purpose doesn’t it?
Raise your glasses and toast hotel sex as it deserves. Bottoms up!
